Making It In Tough Times

As I ponder today’s news, which talks only about crazy politics and tough economic times, I say to myself, self, how does one make it today without God?  It has been my experience that I can not make it without Him.  God’s Word declares in 1-Corinthians 15:57, But thanks be to God which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Well, I could say alot about that verse, but to cut it short, notice that Jesus must be our Lord.  And when He is, praise God, He will take care of us!  Isaiah 41:10 is one of my favorite verses and it works for tough times.  The verse says, Fear thou not: for I am with thee: be not dismayed: for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee: yea, I will help thee: yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.  O, what a promise for tough times! In looking at the verse there are 5 important truths for livng in victory.

1. God’s Presence Will Secure Us.  “Fear thou not for I am with thee.”

In Hebrews 13:5 God says, I will never leave you or forsake you. (Nothing will come our way that does not come by God too!)

2. God’s Peace Will Satisfy Us.  “Be not dismayed for I am thy God.”

John 14:27 says Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  (Just relax in God.)

3. God’s Power Will Strengthen Us.  “I will strengthen thee”

Psalms 29:11 The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace. (Draw on God’s power.)

4. God’s Provision Supplies Us. “Yea, I will help thee”

Psalms 84:11 For the Lord is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. (God is not withholding; He’s ready to give what is needed.)

5. God’s Promises Will Sustain Us. “Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Psalm 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. (When we can’t go on, He will carry us, if He has too!)

When God is our God, we have precious promises for tough times or any time.  The cliche is true: Tough times won’t last, but tough people do.  Become strong in God’s Word and stand on His promises. They will not and can not fail. Accept God’s Words, His promises, as yours and walk in the victory God has for you.  If you don’t know the Lord, click on and follow the path under “ru ready”.
